In honor of the 15th anniversary of Endangered Species Day, the Endangered Species Coalition is shining a spotlight on the critically endangered rusty-patched bumblebee. Historically, these bees roamed freely throughout the grasslands and tallgrass prairies of the Upper Midwest and Northeast, but unfortunately, the majority of these habitats have been lost. In order to thrive, bumblebees require a variety of resources, such as nectar and pollen from flowers, nesting sites, and overwintering locations.
The rusty patched bumblebee faces numerous threats to its survival, including increased agricultural land use, harmful pesticide exposure, disease, and the impact of climate change. To help save these important pollinators, the Endangered Species Coalition is actively working to create planting sites across the United States and advocating for legislation and regulations to protect not only rusty-patched bumblebees but all pollinators. Let’s show our support for bees and Endangered Species Day by joining their efforts.

The Endangered Species Coalition brings together individuals and organizations to protect endangered and threatened species and their habitats in the US, as protecting them is essential to maintain biodiversity, ecological services, and healthy ecosystems.

The loss of endangered species can have a cascading effect on other species and ecosystems, leading to further extinctions and loss of ecosystem services. Furthermore, endangered species have cultural and historical significance, and their loss can lead to a loss of cultural heritage and identity.

Additionally, protecting endangered species can have economic benefits, supporting commercial and recreational industries. Overall, protecting endangered species is vital for maintaining diverse ecosystems, preserving cultural heritage, and supporting sustainable economic development.

Every dollar counts; even a small donation can make a difference for environmental nonprofits. So, don't hesitate to donate just one dollar and help positively impact the environment.
